All-on-4 dental implants (also called “All-on-Four” or “All-in-Four”) are relatively new inventions that make the process of receiving a full arch replacement far easier. A full arch replacement is needed when all of a patient’s teeth on the top row, bottom row, or both need to be supported by implants.

Before the invention of All-on-4 implants, patients would need a dental implant for each tooth. All-on-4 implants fix the prosthesis, which supports all ten individual teeth, in a way that is just as safe (and permanent) as individual implants.

One of the primary benefits of All-on-4 implants is the surgeon’s ability to replace an entire arch of teeth in a single procedure. This means that patients in need of a full arch replacement can receive one within 24 hours of their surgery appointment.

This comes with a few benefits. For patients with low bone density, such as those suffering from osteoporosis, traditional dental implants may not be a safe option. Since All-on-4 implants require fewer anchoring points, they are less dependent on the patient’s natural bone density for success.

Similarly, those who suffer from chronic sinus issues or condylar resorption may have weak upper jaw structures. Even if the bone has degraded to the point that All-on-4 implants are not safe for the jaw, the prosthesis can instead be implanted into the zygomatic bone. Bone grafts are also an option for those who would benefit from the treatment.
