Fixed Dental Prosthesis

Fixed dental prostheses are designed to replace damaged or missing teeth and are permanently installed. They cannot be removed by the patient and are bonded to either artificial roots or natural teeth. Examples include a dental bridge, crown, or implant. When talking about fixed prostheses in a dental setting, the most common conversation usually revolves around All-On-4 dental implants or full mouth dental implants. Our office offers a full set of replacement teeth that are screwed in and can't come out unless removed by a dentist. This is what we mean by the term "fixed dental prosthesis".

Advantages of fixed teeth over removable teeth like dentures include a gain in the posterior mandibular bone, a restoration of normal biting and chewing habits, and a normalization of oral hygiene practices back to the state they were in before the teeth were lost. Fixed dentures, such as All-On-4 Implants, provide greater grip, comfort, and convenience as they do not need to be removed for cleaning. They also offer a higher level of stability compared to removable options.

In other words, fixed prostheses compensate for tooth loss in both cosmetic and functional ways. Our technicians would be happy to evaluate you to see if a fixed prosthesis is the right treatment for your situation.
