Overdenture

Overdentures are a removable dental prosthesis that attaches to dental implants. While traditional dentures replace an entire row of upper or lower teeth using adhesive to hold the mold in place, overdentures replace the row by anchoring to implants. They snap on through the use of balls or bars that support the soft tissue and hold the false teeth in place.

Compared to traditional dentures, overdentures are more comfortable since they won’t slip. They can support the force of a full bite, so they have fewer food restrictions than conventional dentures (you can have apples again). The best candidates for overdentures are people who have recently lost their teeth (or had them extracted), which means that minimal bone loss has taken place. The jaw will be healthy enough to support the implants that hold the dentures.

Overdentures are a more cost-effective way to replace an entire row of teeth compared to each tooth receiving its own implant. Either way, the procedure will result in a lifelike smile that can handle just about everything your natural teeth could.
